Healthy Tidbits for the Fashionista

No matter how much money you spend on clothes, hair, nails and various other high-self-maintenance rituals many adhere to. All are useless if you are unhealthy and poorly nourished, you'll still look bad. I don't believe in looking anorexic. In truth I admire  feminine curves & healthy backsides! There may come a  time when you really need to be weight conscious and make smarter diet and health choices. Here are some simple steps you can take which  can help improve your appearance, help you shed a few excess pounds and keep you satisfied and snacking great!

Believe-it-or-not many fashionistas fail to realize that there is an extremely fun-obesity fighting exercise which you've probably overlooked. Sex burns fat like butter melting in your mouth and is a natural, essential part of the human experience and gift from God. Sexual activity is an exercise most of us really enjoy. Sex is a drug-free mood elevator, all-natural stress buster and pleasurable activity. Definitely a figure-keeper (Provided you don't get pregnant and you are an active participant in the activity) Muscles relax, tension is temporarily relieved and it's a natural sleep aid (Most people sleep more soundly after really good sex!). Some health care providers say that an active healthy sex life burns approximately 300 calories or more per pop. Imagine without even realizing it you could lose 15 pounds or more in one year from sexual healing alone.

After working up an appetite burning  excess calories & fat the last thing you want to do is load up on fat saturated snacks. Proper refueling is important. Prepare some low fat but satisfying snacks prior to your work-out. With a little forethought you can cut down on alot of empty low fuel snacks.

Consider these suggestions when preparing your post-sex snacks:

  1. Fruit is always a good way to go.

  2. If you feel like an omelet use 2 egg whites or one fourth cup of an  egg substitute in place of  1 whole egg in cooking.

  3. Cool stews, sauces, or soups in the refrigerator after cooking and skim the fat from the top after it hardens.

  4. Savory dishes are definitely more satisfying, so education yourself  to various flavors and exotic spices. Try various kinds of peppers, herbs, garlic, onions, vinegar, lemon juice, curry, the list is endless, so experiment.

  5. Applesauce can sometimes replace butter or margarin in baking recipes.
  6. Choose fresh, unprocessed food. Most instant and convenience foods are load with fat and salt.
  7. Nuts, seeds, dried fruits and beans are a nutritious handy snack to have squirreled away.
  8. Roast meat on a rack so fat can drip away from it. When you just can't resist that occasional piece of fried chicken use canola or olive oil & drain it on a paper towel after cooking to soak up excess fat.
When eating think portions. For meat nothing larger than the size of a deck of cards. Trim fat and take the skin off chicken and turkey.

I bet you didn't know that food presentation is important when it comes to dieting. Our brains are programmed to  pay attention to colors in our dining area, so selecting the right colors may help you loss weight (Our minds are powerful & mysterious things). Color influences the process of eating in obese individuals as reported by Johns Hopkins Medical Institute of Baltimore. Their studies suggest d that when  trying to shed some excess pounds dark blue, brown and green may help suppress your appetite. So wall papering or painting your dinning area in hues utilizing violet, dark blue and greens may actually help you loss weight! And a casual stroll after meals also helps. Contrary to popular misconception walking is every bit as effective as running and causes less wear and tear on joints and muscles.
More than seventy billion dollars was spent in 2010 in the United State to treat the complications associated with obesity and the cost is steadily rising as is the average citizen's weight. So always remember and never forget to read food labels they can help you choose foods lower in sodium and fat. Be sure to look at the serving size on the label since  the label is suppose to list servings per box and the proper serving for one.

Here's a delicious and healthy smoothie recipe
1 cup nonfat milk

2 cups unsweetened frozen cherries

2 cups frozen raspberries

2 cups frozen low fat vanilla yogurt

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups ice
                                                               Directions
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into 4 glasses to serve.

The real secret to weight loss is sense and sensibility. A normal healthy middle aged fashionista requires about 1,200 calories  for long-term dieting success and these calories are critical to looking good, feeling energetic and holistic  health.
